1616 Forest Pkwy, Forest Park, GA 30297. Phone: (404) 675-1782. Email: [email protected] (Craig Neilsen). Directions: Map and directions. This is THE big one in Georgia; a REAL farmer's market, with acres of stalls, to which the farmers bring truckloads of produce every morning. At 150 acres, the Atlanta Market is considered one of the largest of its kind in the world. It has a garden center, wholesale and retail sales, and is a major distribution point for fresh produce in the Southeast and throughout the country. The Forest Park Farmer's Market also has a restaurant, welcome center and USDA Federal-State office.

On the weekends, they're only open Saturday till noon, so get there early! Sundays are closed.

Their prices are good but shop around and haggle; don't buy from the first stand you see, as prices vary greatly. I can usually get apples there for about $14 to $18 a bushel in October (although I suspect the high price of gas my drive up the prices this year, as they arrive by truck from as far away as Washington State!). Click here for a listing of the vendors farm stands, produce companies, etc.: with their phone numbers and a photo of their stall. As far as I know, this is the only such listing of the vendors at the Atlanta/Forest Park Farmer's Market available anywhere!
Directions: Map It is right next to the Forest park exit off of I-075, just outside the Perimeter (I-285) on the south side of Atlanta. You can't miss (well, if you can, you shouldn't have a driver's license, their sign is about 75 ft tall)

Comments from a visitor on July 6, 2017:
"Your DeKalb Farmers Market as specialty grocery, or a grocery store masquerading as a farmers market. There are no stalls, nor multiple vendors, it's just an indoor, large grocery store. Also, the availability, quality, variety, reliability, and trust-worthiness of this grocery store are more reasons for you to delete them from your listing. They sell items and have different ingredients from what is actually listed in the item. For instance, they sell bread that is supposed to be wheat-free, however they label the ingredients and deliberately do NOT list wheat as an ingredient, which is dangerous for people with wheat sensitive and/or intolerant. When asked, I was told "oh, it's all the same!" by a very kind cashier (I asked her if it was true that they bake their injera bread with wheat flour (instead of or in addition to the teff flour that is listed as the ONLY ingredient along with water). Also, they've sold certain flours for years, however, at some point, the flours stopped looking like they always looked like, along with smelling like they've always smelled (for instance, authentic chickpea flour has a very strong and distinguished smell, taste, and hue) which, coupled with the above evidence and others not mentioned here, leads me to believe that they may be adulterating their flours with other, cheaper or/and more common flours, or just outright selling one thing and labeling it as another (as they've done with their in-house made injera bread. That said, I still shop there occasionally for some things, however they have old or poor storage for some of the items that I've tried to continue purchasing from them--as they are molded IN the store. They are in NO way a farmers market, that is why the state of Georgia does NOT recognize them as such. Their prices are not as good, nor is their selection (variety wise and quality wise), they have gone terribly downhill, and that is a shame! Please remove them from your listing. Thanks. "
Comments from a visitor on April 04, 2011: "This is not a vendor market an should be moved to the grocery stores masquerading as a market section. However, it is the cheapest fresh veggie, spices in the metro area and offers fresh ground flours too as well as many specialty items. It is a true international market an can find many international foods. Wonderful place!!! Unhomogenized milk and cream top yogurt sold here!! "
A visitor says on September 06, 2009: "They do not accept credit cards. Checks must be pre approved at customer service desk. "

"I've never attended. It's on "the plaza" in historic downtown, in between a bunch of shops and restaurants that may or may not have restrooms available to non-customers. The first week had live music and they have said they'll have theme weeks. I know about this because I have been a customer at another market, 10-10 market (Douglas County, Georgia, in Crossroads Church) that has closed "for the season" (likely permanently) because the county opened up this market. All of the remaining vendors jumped ship to the new one. "

Other than our storage crops which are potatoes, onions, garlic, and winter squashes, everything you buy from us is harvested one to two days before you buy it. That means you have a much longer shelf life which saves you money by reducing waste. As well, freshly harvested fruits and vegetables are more nutritious. Fruits and vegetables traveling many days in less than perfect conditions not only suffer from freshness but can lose much of their nutrition before arriving at their destination. Another factor is taste. There is no comparison to the taste of local fruits and vegetables to those that have been harvested to ship. Especially when it comes to fruits. We harvest at peak ripeness, when it is ready to be consumed. Hickory Hill Farm Facebook page.
