Maplewood Gardens is a collection of 14 organic gardens built over the last 20 years based on the principle that properly fed and balanced soil will grow truly healthy plants that will in turn produce fruits and vegetables of superior flavor and nutrient content. We have never used any toxic substance, even those approved for organic use. Presently we grow about a hundred varieties of herbs, berries, and vegetables for discerning restaurants, farmer's markets, and on farm customers in addition to the maple syrup which is more than a hundred year tradition here. We also have a 20 year history of organic garlic culture. We currently grow 7 varieties of hardneck garlic and 3 varieties of shallots. We are always seeking new varieties to add color and flavor to our Chef's Favorites list. We even grow specific varieties for individual customers. We are not certified but we do not use pesticides or any chemicals of any kind. You can buy fruit by the pound, 1/2 Bushel or Bushels. We have plastic bags to put the fruit in but if you can bring a box or a plastic for your quanity of fruit you would be taking it would ship better in your vehicle especially if your coming from far away. Please call ahead for orders so we can pick the fruit just before you come to pick it up so it is the freshest you can get. We do not let you pick your own for insurance reasons right now, sorry. We have all different variety's such as Macintosh, gala, Reliant for apples and Barrlet, Bosc, Anjou for Pears And Mongomery, and a almost sweet cherry similiar to Ranier And Purple Samson Plums and Red Haven red plums that taste like candy. And if you're not sure what variety you want but you are looking to freeze, or do canning or drying the fruit or just eating it right away let us suggest the best match of variety of fruit for how you plan on storing it or eating it fresh. We also have apricot, and Peach trees being nurtured for Future sale. We are a small orchard right now of about 90 standard and dwarf trees just getting the business off the ground but plan on expanding and will update information as we make progress. The more you buy I can make you a better price such as bushel vs. just a couple pounds. If you want to taste the juicest sweet fruit in Wisconsin try ours.
